Even my non-speller loves this game!

I bought this hoping to encourage my 9 and 10 year olds to 1) enjoy games and 2) practice spelling. WHO KNEW we'd all fall in love. My mom comes over every afternoon and forces us all to play! It is quite fun and anyone can win. I love it and buy it for friends. Highly recommend this game. So much easier and carefree than keeping score and strategy in Scrabble.

Great game for the whole family!

I couldn't believe that I ordered this game on a Tuesday and it was here with the mail on Wednesday. I would have paid more money for it in a store and I didn't have to use any gas or time to find it! The delivery was UNBELIEVABLE!! Couldn't ask for any more!

Easy and fun!

This is a really fun and easy game to play. It has several ways to play. You can even play this alone. It is a great travel game and lots of fun.

Wonderful Game!!!

This is a wonderful family game. It goes fast and everyone is playing at the same time. I love Scrabble but my youngest could never wait for everyone to take a turn and would get bored. This is a perfect fix. It is educational and fun.

My favorite board game

Settlers of Catan is by far my favorite board game. We encountered it a few years back and it continues to remain the favorite. The standard version is for 4 people, with the minimum age around 10. Extensions are available, and you can easily change some rules if there are only 3 of you. A typical game lasts about an hour.

The players compete to acquire resources and construct roads, settlements, cities etc. There is also an amount of chance since you use two dice at each turn to determine who gets what resources. In that respect it is like many other board games. But there are three main factors that make it very interesting and why everyone feels that they can have a chance of winning each game: (1) the board setup is random, so that everytime you play, it IS a new game (there is a Nexus One app available that allows you to get a more balanced board), and (2) you can trade resources, and only the player whose turn it is can trade so that each time you have a possibility of acquiring points, and (3) there are many ways of acquiring points to take you to victory.

Incidently, Amir Khan once said on his blog that he likes to play Settlers of Catan a lot.

Due to the large number of possibilities the first time you play it seems a bit daunting. But it is worth every bit of you time and effort. The game was apparently invented in Germany to teach about capitalism. It has one the 'Spiel des Jahres' (game of the year) award in 1995.

Great Game for Everyone!

I was amazed I had never heard of this game until now. A friend of ours recommended it while visiting, so we ran out and purchased the game right away. That night we played until 1 AM in the morning. This game is fun!

The instruction book is rather large, but the gist of the game is on the first two pages. My 8-year old daughter picked up the game right away and now wants to play all the time. I really like the fact that the game play is different every time. It is definitely a strategy style game and take a few games under your belt to start developing your own strategies.

Our edition came with extra plastic bags for all the pieces. And everything fits nicely into the box. The game board, at first, fit very tight into the surrounding edges. I found that if I took some of the hex pieces and just rubbed the edges on the table to flatten out the nubs created when punching them out of the cardboard that it fit nicely into the surrounding pieces. You might want to do that too.

If you like playing games, this is a must. This is our new 'family game night' game to play. For two players, the game play lasts 30 minutes to an hour. You can figure that for every extra person play, it will add about 30 minutes or so to the game play.

You can't go wrong buying this game!

Best game ever.

This is the best board game ever made. There needs to be nothing else written about Settlers of Catan. In fact, everything else I'm writing beyond that first sentence is extraneous. If you're still reading this and not purchasing said board game, you are wasting your time.

Settlers

We play this game a lot and love it! Once you catch on to the rules it goes quickly and is lots of fun.

Rating :

Great group game!

Settlers is a great strategy game geared for a wide audience. The pieces and board were made to be durable and every match is always different due to the different land tiles and different number placings. I'd say the game is a mix between Risk and Monopoly.

What's different about the moon tonight? It's inside your room! Authentically detailed, Moon In My Room hangs on your wall and shines moonlight just like the real moon. Twelve different phase settings let you match what the real moon looks like outside tonight!

Listen to the included audio CD to learn exciting facts about the moon and its unique relationship with planet Earth.

Customer Review :

Very cool, even I learned the phases!

Two girls 3 and 4 love the moon, thought this would be educational and indeed it is! We have all enjoyed it and they were interested in it so much that we now look everyday to check that we have the right phase, and even I have learned the phases. Very cool!

Rating :

Great for any child interested in the sky

This Moon works great, it goes through all the phases and sparks discussions on the sky, the moons cycles, etc. My son loves it.

Rating :

What I expected

I have a four-year-old who's fascinated by all things related to space, planets, stars, etc. And he loves his new moon. It's sufficiently bright and easy to hang up and use. It cycles through the moon phases and turns itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity. It really does look like the moon. And it took my kid around ten seconds to figure out the remote control, which works from all angles and from across a typical kid's room. It's not a precision optical device but it works fine for what it is. Requires 4 AA and 2 AAA batteries.

Rating :

Great for space-crazy kid

Looks like real moonlight, good for night lite as it turns off on it's own. My boys love the remote and I like the moon up on the wall where they can't touch it.

Rating :

uh...amazing!

I've bought 100 things on amazon, or more. The last time I gave a 5 star was in 1998. my 3 year old talks about this thing daily, and it was one of the best investments I've ever made. Buy this, and you will be so glad you did.

Fun for all ages

This game is great fun for the whole family. The more you play, the better (quicker) you can pick out sets, but what we really like is that there is no particular advantage based on age or size.

We play as a family and my 9 year old daughter has just as much opportunity and likelihood to win as I do.

The more often you play, you will develop an advantage over those who play less frequently.

This game is fun and challenging for everyone.

Not as fun as we thought

Our adult friends LOVE this game and encouraged me to buy it for my kids for Christmas. It has been played 2 times and that has been by me and a couple of my children. Our kids do not choose to play this game. It is great and gets you to thinking.

Rating :

Great game

At first this game seemed a little confusing to play, but once we figured out what a "set" was, it was AWESOME!!! It does get frustrating at times, since the sets are not always easy to see.....then again, thats the fun of it. My 15 year old daughter seems to have a good eye for the sets and beats us everytime!!! Def a lot of fun for the whole family....all ages.

Rating :

I bought for my daughter but use it more than she does!

I bought this for my 7 year old and she took one look at it and said- we have that at school. I would describe this when played alone as more of a puzzle rather than a game. I ended up using it myself and am addicted! It is a great way to take a break from the daily grind. The NYtimes.com has a free online version which they change daily. It is a great way to mix fun and using your brain at the same time.

Rating :

Family fun

I bought Set Game as a Christmas present for my husband and since that day our whole family has spent many fun hours playing. At first we had a little trouble figuring out exactly what is a set and what isn't, but the rules are very clear and include examples of sets and non-sets. The product description and other customer reviews helped in my decision to purchase the game, but also knowing that the rules are both in English and Spanish (my husband is Spanish, and we live in Spain). Our kids (aged 6 and 12) absolutely LOVE the game and always want to play. Our 12-year old usually wins.

frusttation

For the amount of money, the game was a total disappointment. My granddaughter was so excited to get it for Christmas and no one could ever get it to work. We are now in the tedious process of the return.

Buy it at retail, it's back in stock

I had to give my grandson an IOU for Christmas. I just bought it at the local [...]. At 9 years old, he took to it right away. It does put a dent in your forhead from the sensor in the headband, but it's fun and ther are many ways to set it up to keep it interesting. Contrary to another review, it does have multi-player funcion. As my grandson said, "It's about relaxing!" Frankly, he did it better than me. I highly recommend it, but not at the prices on this website. Check your local retailers, as they may have it back in stock at $80.

This is a difficult toy to master (if mastery is even possible) but it is fun and chlalenging to try!

This game is a hoax!

As my description says this game is a total hoax. Prooven by a team of brain scientists in germany. John-Dylan Haynes one of the leading scientists to this subject prooved that this game can't react on the brain activity with such simple device. He connected the sensors to a wet styrofoam head and the game behaved exactly like beeing connected to a real head. There is a random generator in the device.
The psychological effect named "control-illusion" pretends that you have full control of a situation even if you don't!
Theres a video that prooves this. So don't give too much to this platic device and don't even believe you can really control the ball with your mind. Real device which are capable doing this are much more expensive and complex.

Questions & Answers
Question : What is it like having sex with a man 12-15 years older? Serious answers?
I am 22. My new BF is 38. I have not been physical or intimate with him yet because it is a new relationship but I am curious about other peoples experiences. I have only been with one man and he was 27 but sex was never that good. I just want to know if I will be able to have a goos sex life and your personal experiences.Thank you!

Answer:
Intimacy with an older man is soooo much better because they care more about pleasing you than themselves which they have learned in turn makes you want to please them. Just remember that age alone does not make a good man so make sure he is a good decent person and you will be happy with your sex life.

Question : How much would it cost for a cairn terrier? It's life span is 12-15 years...?
I need to convince parents I can hae a dog. I just need the cost for the 1st year and a 14 year life span. Please give all the info you have.

Answer:
It depends where you go to get the dog. More expensive as a pure breed or at a store. You could also look in a newspaper (They give away puppies a lot of the time for free) or visit a shelter. Shelters sometimes will sell you a puppy at a sometimes high price ($80-ish here) but it includes spaying/neutering, vet visits, some shots... All depending on the place. Do some searching and see where you're getting the pup.If you get a puppy, you're going to have to pay for a lot of vet visits - which are well worth it. (Unless the pup has been treated - that's pure luck, there) You'll have to do a little research directly from your source - I don't know where you're looking for your perfect pal.Factor in food bowls, leash, chew toys (essential for puppies - or you'll lose some clothing or pillows...or wires) - means for taking the pup outside - if you don't have a fence, you'll need a leash.Of course, there's food. It's about $10-ish for that bag. You can ration meals three times a day, and be sure when you'll refill (Perhaps a week or two?) or you can just fill it whenever it's empty, but not too much for puppies, who'll eat themselves sick. Honestly, this is as much help as I can give. You will have to consider what you need, what you want, and the like.If you have more questions, I can try to answer them :3 Just throw me a message.

Question : I am 34 year old single parent of a 12 year old. I have worked in the medical field for 15 years and its time?
I consider going to college to become a RN. Right now with out a degree in nursing I cant climb the ladder of success. I can't really get paid anymore than I am being paid now. I want flexibility and good pay. I would like to go school full time and work part time. How can I do that and still pay the mortgage and keep health benefits?

Answer:
Apply for grants! That and see if your current employer offers tuition reimbursement. Although community colleges are the least expensive for nursing programs, they are often the most crowded with applicants and therefore, very selective about their actual nursing program applicants. While I don't know what your current bill vs income status is, many people that qualify for grants use them, plus student loans to make it through school AND pay their rent, mortgage, living expenses. Since you do work in healthcare, perhaps finding a weekend or evening shift position part time while you go to school can help out with bills if you aren't able to get enough in loans and grants to quit your job. That way, you'd still be eligible for health benefits with most places. It's a rough road, but you can do it! Best wishes!!

Question : Why is it that girls 12-15 years old dont really masterbate while guys that age do constantly?
Like, girls that age are afraid to use tampons and masterbate while guys that age are constantly masterbating (atleast what i have found).

Answer:
There are a few possible answers:1) In many patriarchal cultures, male masturbation is seen as a ritual of manhood and completely normal, while female masturbation is discouraged because sexual pleasure is perceived to be a danger to the girls - if they enjoy sexual stimulation, they will be more promiscuous and unclean. That's another reason for the fear of tampons - if the tampon tears the hymen, the girl is less pure.2) Male masturbation is physically easier. A young man only has to perform a relatively easy motion to achieve gratification. A young woman is more complicated and so it takes time to perfect a masturbation technique.3) Girls that age are not taught much about sexual anatomy, and may not understand the possible techniques for masturbation. Few tweens and teens know the difference between clitoral and g-spot orgasms, or even where either organ is located. It's a pretty complex process for some women, and many girls who don't understand the anatomy may be too intimidated.

Question : [Teen] Girls from 12-15 years old, a question please? [It's about your legs]?
3 QUESTIONS:1) Is it ok to have hairy legs?2) Would you prefer to shave or use a cream like veet, or just let you hair on you legs the way they are?3)How do you convince your mom you want to get the hair off legs? =P

Answer:
1. shaving your legs is a personal choice most teen's and adults do, if you have hairy legs it makes it a bit awkward for summer and some people consider it a turn of.2. I prefer using shower gel and a Venus embrace razor that works pretty good and its less exspensize than veet and shaving gel3. i convinced my mom.. well i didn't really convince her i just did it, if you have a really strict mom though just sit her down and tell her you feel self conscious about the hair on your legs ( tip don't say every one else is doing it !)Hope i helped! = ).

Question : Why do so many 12-15 yr olds ask the same stupid questions?
I've noticed that no less than half of the questions on this site are from younger kids 12-15 years old asking the same stupid questions:Does he like me?Do you like fat chicks?Am I pregnant?Look at my picture and tell me I'm hot.So, my question is weather or not you A) agree with me, or B) please explain why you you all continue to post identical stupid questions.

Answer:
First of all i totally agree with you. I think the important questions should be asked. If they wanna find out if someone likes them or wanna find out if the are hot. Phone a friend, have a sleepover, ask a guy! I know its hard, but common yahoo answers would be the last place i'd go. And are you pregnant. I think this is the stupidest question on here. Well one of them. Because how are we suppose to know? And do you like fat chicks? Okay first of all thats really mean. Calling them fat chicks. If i found a question like that, i would give them a peice of my mind. And the answer to that question is personal i think. P.S im 15 and i have never asked a question like that, check all my questions. Well maybe one am i hot. But i don't think so.

Question : Does anyone have any diet ideas for girls 12-15 years old?
I have wanted to go on a diet, and my mum tells me it's not good for me, although I want to! I wanted to go on the special K diet thing, where you only eat special K for breakfast and tea, although you have to be over a certain BMI and over 18. None of the diets I have looked up are suitable for younger people. Does that mean that we aren't supposed to diet? Please help, and if you've got any tips or advice, I'd be grateful to know! Thank You :)

Answer:
Right--girls your age shouldn't restrict calories and nutrition. You are still growing and developing. You want to have a healthy body, you don't want to hurt your skeletal and muscle development--or your brain, either! It depends why you think you need to diet. Are you seriously overweight? And I'm talking like really overweight, not just that you think you are cuz you don't look like a supermodel. (Real women don't look like that--and all the photos you see are touched up, that's why they look all perfect!)If you really have a weight problem you should see your doctor first. If you really don't, then just concentrate on eating healthy. Whole grains, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables of all kinds, raw, lightly cooked or however you like them, lean meats, fish, healthy fats like olive oil and nuts, should make up most of your food. Getting some regular exercise can help you tone up and feel better about yourself. Do NOT compare yourself to anyone else--YOU look the way YOU are supposed to look! Don't be an exercise junkie either--you can spend way too much time working out and that can become an obsession. Just take a nice 30 minute walk everyday, or a jog if you prefer, or a fun casual sport like frisbee or tennis with friends is a great way to get fresh air, exercise, and most of all, have FUN!Just develop those healthy habits and it will last you a lifetime. Eat when you are hungry, and stop eating when you are full. Stay physically active. Don't do any of these things to an extreme. Don't deprive yourself of calories or nutrition. Splurge once in a while on your favorite treat, whether it's ice cream or chips or whatever. Love yourself!
