Question : I'm planning an adult Indiana Jones themed birthday party for my husband and need ideas for the party
So far I've bought Indiana Jones m&m's, Indiana Jones fruit snacks. I'm trying to figure out whether to have the party in my apartment (it's kind of small) or my apartment Community Room which costs $150 to rent and I'd rather spend the money on his gifts, decorations, etc. I had also thought about having it a restaurant, but then I can't do all the fun Indiana Jones decorations (tiki lights, lanterns, bamboo, grass skirts to line the counters and tables, etc.) I'm going to do party favors for the guests with Indy fruit snacks, fake small snakes and other bugs, these bounce ball brown colored rocks for the boulders). I also want to do a poster that says "Club Obi Wan Bar" for all the drinks. I want to use orange, red, and yellow crepe paper for decorating too. There are two possible restaurants in L.A. that I'm looking at: The Elephant Bar and Amazon Bar N Grill. They are both kind of jungle/tropical themed, but again, I wouldn't be able to do the decorations Any thoughts
Answer:
Depending upon the number of guests you plan to include in the party, I'd recommend keeping it to a small intimate group. You'll find you will have less to provide, and I believe the guests will enjoy being able to take part in the function. Ask your friends for input. Most likely, each will have a version of the movie that they enjoyed. Let them help with the setup. Provide a "trivia game" on the subject, have a "treasure hunt" (let your guests bring small inexpensive momentos of the story line, that can be traded through a "drawing" allowing each person to pull a wrapped item from a "treasure pit", and allowing the next person in line to either take the first item, or to choose from the remaining items. The process allows one person who got a prize three times in a row, get to keep the item, and no one else could take it away). You'd be surprised how much fun this can be. Also as a treasure hunt moment, have the guests blindfolded, and have them have to dip their hands into a bowl of "cannibal guts" (cold boiled spagetti w/out sause) to find a special gift or "clue" under the bowl of wet slimmy pasta. Of course, none of the guests are suppost to know what is in the bowl, Maybe putting the bowl inside a sealed box, with a "hand hole" The only real problem with this gag, is it can get messy. There are many fun gags you can play, maybe check with a costume shop, they may have other ideas. Oh, by the way...Club Obi Wan Bar, I think it was a "Star War" thing. Anyways, your husband is sure to have a blast. It sounds like he has a loving wife who wants to make him happy. Have fun
