It's ok

We got this camera for our 3 year old, because she loves to take pictures with our digital camera. However, the quality of the screen viewer is so bad that she doesn't really enjoy snapping a shot and looking at it the way she does with our camera (and that is what she loves). So, it doesn't quite do the trick. Also, when you look through the viewfinder what you see doesn't match with the photos the camera takes, which is also annoying and hard to remember as an adult, let alone a 3 year old.

she does use it now and then, but not as much as I had hoped. We'll likely give her an adult camera soon - probably when we upgrade.

I will say it is as tough as nails, though! And that's good!

What a waste

This camera is a great idea. My daughter has fun with it but the picture quality is so terrible that I don't understand the point. If she did happen to take a good photo it is useless. You can barely make out the image it is so dark. It really is a terrible camera. If you just want a pretend camera for your kids that clicks and makes noise I think you can find something else for a lot less money. The picture part of this camera is pointless. Don't waste your money. Fisher price should be ashamed of producing such a piece of junk.

Great little camera

We bought this camera for our 5 year old daughter 4 months ago and she still enjoys using it. It has an SD slot, so you can insert a larger memory card so your child can take a ton of pictures and they won't be forcing you to download pictures of their stuffed animals onto your computer any time soon;) This camera has been dropped over and over again, played with by our 2 year old, turned off and on over and over again, left in a hot car, etc. It still keeps going. I have to say that the quality of the pictures is a bit grainy, but there is a flash and the kids don't care anyways. Nice size screen on the back. Our daughter and her friends have a lot of fun with this product and we'd recommend it to anyone. She won't be disappointed.

HORRIBLE PICTURE QUALITY

I bought this camera for my daughter's 4th birthday. I liked the pink color and the looks of it on the picture. When I started to use it I noticed that the picture quality was horrible. I could not identify the person in the picture. After reading the instruccions I noticed there was a setting to make the picture quality better. SO I put it on that setting. IT DID NOT HELP... still the people in the photos were irrecognizable. Would not recomend it.

This was the best present for a little girl. She hasn't put it down. When we leave to go somewhere she asks "Wheres my camera." I think this is one of the best toy purchases I have made. She really likes that she can see the picture she took right away. The visual clarity in the viewing window is not perfect but good enough for a little kid to see the picture she took. I'll buy this for other children in the future.

Question : What is the difference between a 10x zoom and a 12x zoom camera
I've been looking at cameras and have some that I like but the only major differences are in the zooms. Since I have never used a camera with this much zoom I have no idea how to tell which would be better. The cameras I have been looking at are 10x and 12x optical zoom. With around 4.5 digital zoom.

Answer:
In the 10X, the longest focal length is 10X the shortest. Same idea for 12X. What's more important is what to what. 28-105 is much more useful than 38-380 (film equivalents). Also be aware that in a 10 or 12X zoom, the widest angle will be severly distorted and there may be other noticeable quality issues. For best performance, stick to 4 or 5X max. Digital zoom isn't zoom -- it's cropping. Stay away from it as it destroys image quality. HTH V

Question : Ultra Compact, Great Image Quality, High Zoom Camera - Which Camera Is Best
I want to get an ultra compact camera for travel/social photos(outdoor & lowlight) that takes great photos and has the highest possible optical zoom. I have been torn between the Sony DSC-T100 and the Canon IXUS 950 (also known as SD850 IS). Their features on paper are very similar € the Sony has 5x optical zoom compared to Canons 4x, but how much difference will that make On the other hand, the Canon apparently has much better image quality. Both have less zoom than what I really wanted. The Kodak V610 has 10x zoom, but the reviews are very disappointing - poor image quality. Also, Fuji are due to release the FinePix Z100fd (ultra compact, 8mp, 5x zoom, I.S) in October which looks quite similar to the Sony on paper. Which is the better camera I've read many reviews and still can't decide. Are there any other ultra compact cameras out there that have great image quality, but with high optical zoom, or do I have to expect a larger size camera to get more zoom

Answer:
Both Cameras do seem very similar spec wise, so maybe you should look at some other factors, like memory cards and batteries. Both cameras use a special battery, so no difference there... The Canon uses the more available and slightly cheaper SD memory cards while the Sony uses their proprietary memory stick format. That, along with Facial Recognition and slightly better image quality puts the Canon over the top for me.
