Customer Review :
It won't stay together
We got this set for my 4 year old son for Christmas. His eyes lit up when he saw it. He dropped everything and insisted that we open it right away....we didn't, of course...we waited a whole day...thank goodness...it literally took an hour to put together. There are so many pieces that look alike but are barely different. It was very frustrating...then it wouldn't stay together once it was finished. It has been nothing but a frustration for him and me ever since. He gets so upset when he tries to play with it. We saved the box. It's going back, if they will take it....

Complex and Difficult to assemble.
Our six year old got this toy from Santa last December. It was very hard for me assemble, so forget about him being able to reconfigure it like the instructions say. Great idea but for a much older kid or an intuitive boy with exceptional motor skills.

To bad they dicontinued this toy line.
I have bought multiple sets from this toy line, while I will admit that the first run through can be a little hard to assemble, once you learn the pieces and how they fit and support each other you can make some amazing playsets.
I now own almost two or more of each set and have even made some custom pieces so you can create even more complex sets, my nephew loves the men, (some of the best out there as far as detail and duability goes).
as far as the sets duribility goes it's true, if you kick the set or pick it up and drop it, or jump on it, it will fall apart, just like any plastic building set.
I'm not sure why people have trouble with these sets, there better than mega bloks, or playmoblie and cost much less, maybe if your kid wails on his toys this is not something for him, I just can't imagine what these kids are doing to there toys to break them, if played with with any sort of restraint this product is excellent.
I think the best advice is to understand this toy was designed to be built from the floor up, if you build up one side before another you will have a hard time securing the pieces correctly.
it really is to bad that this toy line was dicontinued to make way for the more infant like line that was fisher prices big adventure sets, as the level of polish on what was made will make this toy very desirable to true collectors.
maybe a warning label would have helped, something like, Not Intended For Children Who Suffer From ADD.

Confusing waste of time...better off with Legos!
I am not a fan of the imaginext line...It's just too much confusion even with the instructions. Legos makes much more sense to me.

My sons' favorite toy
This is one of the best toys my children got for Christmas. It's wonderful!! It's durable enough to play with, and other than a few extraneous pieces (a flag, some fire decoration), it stays together really well. However, there is also the potential as they get older to reconfigure it into a different shape. It was definitely a job for my husband to put together, not my sons, but they absolutely love it. Every evening, they come home and I take the castle down from its "protected from the two year old" shelf and they get out the knights and wizards and dragons we bought with it. They will play for hours and not even ask for the TV to be on!! Wonderful.

Question : I wanting to by a toy castle for my 3 year old bday present.
Which one do you think is better, why and do you have one PlayMobil Castle line or Imaginext Castle by Fisherprice The Playmobil take along castle says ages 4-7. My child never sticks things in his mouth, and has plays with his sisters smaller Angelina Ballerina Castle with lots of tiny pieces, for about a year and has had no incidents. We all ways supervise and encourage family play. So age is not an issue. I'm looking for Durabilty and more a long term play toy.
Answer:
Imaginext is more durable and more age appropriate. Playmobil falls apart, is significantly more expensive, and is for children double your son's age. FYI Playmobil falls apart easily. Imaginext does not.

Question : Which Play castle set is best Playmobile, Imaginext, Scleich etc.
I'm wanting to buy a Castle & knight play set for a 3 year olds birthday. We would like this to be a toy he can enjoy and play with it for a long time and have family play & collect and add more pieces, for different occassions. Can anyone recommend their favorite set and why I would love to hear if you have one of this sets to Imaginext http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-9887199-9428864initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Daps&fiel d-keywords=imaginext+castle PLAYMOBIL http://store.playmobilusa.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-US-Site/en_US/Search-Showcgid=Ritter SCHLEICH STEP 2 http://www.step2.com/product.cfmproduct_id=1414 SCHLEICH http://schleich-s.de/english/spielplatz/ritterwelt.phplang=2
Answer:
Well, I've seen the Schleich products and I think they are great If you don't mind the price of those I would choose that... At three years old, he might not appreciate the high level of detail, but as he grows older, I think they could become a favorite toy... Ya, the Playmobile stuff IS really cool... but it is also geared toward "younger" kids... Of course three is pretty young... So I guess it comes down to "how long" would you want him to enjoy these toys The Playmobile line would be great for now... but three or four years down the road he might appreciate the greater detail of the Schleich Line. Plus, I would imagine that the Schleich Castle and other play-sets won't be around for very long... eventually making them a GREAT Collector's item
