Easy bake oven

Luckily, I ordered this straight from Hasbro before they sold out for the Holidays. There is no way I would pay what some of these people are asking for it. We haven't used it yet but I gave it 4 stars because I had one when I was a kid and they haven't changed since then so I'm sure it's fine. I know it's better than the "cool bake" that thing was awful.

Ready to kill your children?

If you don't want your kids to play with a real oven, why buy them a little child size one that is the perfect size for sticking their little hands in? The only reason I gave this 5 educational stars is because it gives kids a great lesson about heat being painful. One that they will remember forever. And also one that will possibly scar them forever. Emotionally and physically.

easy bake a great toy

This was a gift for my precious neice and she loves the easy bake oven. Easy to use and much better tasting treats then the disney oven- It looks like a mini microwave and I think works similar to one - so pretty safe for kids to use and learn to bake:) This was a hard to find item since a version of the easy bake was recently recalled. A little pricey but worth her smile!!!

my little sister just got a easy bake oven and she wants to make mac and cheese. is it possible to make mac and cheese in the easy bake oven?? and if so how?

Answer:
Mix her up a box of mac & cheese. Spoon about 1/4 cup of it into a greased little pan that comes w/ it, and spread it out. Stick under the light bulb for abou 10 min. If you want, before "baking" you could top it w/ a few shreds of real cheese.

Question : Can I use real cake mix in an Easy Bake Oven?
I have a package of butter cake mix & decided to use in my Easy Bake Oven. The cake mix require butter & eggs to bake. I really don't understand why many people told me to use the real cake mix in my Easy Bake Oven. They suggest me to mix 3 tablespoons of cake mix with a tablespoon of water/milk. What I don't understand is why only milk/water? I mean the cake mix requires butter & eggs to bake in the 'real' oven but we uses water/milk to bake in Easy Bake Oven. Can someone explain it to me? Have you try using the real cake mix? What's the result? I'm 12 anyway! Hey, actually I ALWAYS bake with the regular oven (I LOVE baking!) until my aunt gave me an Easy Bake Oven. As a gift, I have to use it! I can't just dump it like that?!

Answer:
Wow! You have really great grammar for someone that still uses an Easy Bake Oven. How old are you? Okay, that didn't come out as well as it should have. If you really are 12, then I'm impressed with your writing skills. There are adults on here that can't write as well as you. You're obviously smart enough to toss out the easy bake oven, and move to a regular oven.

Question : How do I use my easy bake oven?
I have just recently bought an Easy bake oven at WAlmart adn I misplaced the directions. I have found the instruction booklet online but I don't understand how far I need to turn the nobs to turn the oven on and how long to cook it. help please

Answer:
I haven't used on in awhile, but I don't think you need to choose a temperature - it's basically on or off. Not sure where you found your instructions, but there are official ones for viewing at www.hasbro.com. The baking time varies for different recipes - take a look at the website for cooking times. (Usually around 10 minutes, be sure to wait 15 minutes before starting so the o"oven" can pre-heat!)

Question : My child just got an easy bake oven and I am wondering if anyoneknows of any cake recipe you can make with it?
Has anyone tried cooking a cake in an easy bake oven that has not come from an easy bake pacages. The pacages are so expensive and they hardly give you any mix in them.

Answer:
I used to get the Jiffy Mixes for my daughter to use in her's. They come in smaller boxes and make less than a full size cake/muffin mix. You can find them on the cake and baking aisle. Also, you cost less than the Easy Bake Mixes by a long shot! And taste better too. Regular cookie mix or dough is just fine, too. Same with brownie mixes. I found these online: http://www.lynettee.com/kidfood10.htm Children's Chocolate Cake Mix 1 cup sugar 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup vegetable shortening In a medium bowl, combine sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking soda and salt. Question : What temperature does an Easy Bake Oven cook at?
I have some Easy Bake oven recipes I'd like to cook in a regular oven.

Answer:
But according to the cookbook, once the Easy-Bake is preheated, it reaches a temperature of about 375 degrees. Who would have thunk? http://www.dailyhome.com/lifestyle/2003/as-food-0618-0-3f17p2601.htm Warm enough for these chefs; The Easy-Bake Oven, Gourmet Style Grown-Up Chefs Offer Recipes Designed for the Classic Toy http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1534572 Morning Edition, December 8, 2003 · Mention Easy-Bake Ovens and people of a certain age will salivate with nostalgic delight. This year, the toy that allows children to bake their cake and eat it too turns 40. After 11 model changes, the Easy-Bake has morphed into a design that looks like a microwave. But it works the same way it always has: open a package of mix, add water, pour batter into a scaled-down cake pan, and slide it into an oven pre-heated by a lightbulb. To celebrate Easy-Bake's 40th anniversary, Morning Edition turned to the The Easy-Bake Oven Gourmet, a combination cookbook and retrospective written by David Hoffman. In addition to an amusing history of the toy, the book features recipes developed for the oven by well-known chefs. Among them are Caprial Pence, host (with her husband) of the PBS show Cooking with Caprial and John, and Art Smith, personal chef to Oprah Winfrey and a contributing editor for O magazine. Pence and Smith inspired some Morning Edition production staffers to give the recipes a try. You can, too: Caprial Pence's Wild Mushroom Flan Makes 6 servings, baked one at a time 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil 1 bunch fresh chives, coarsely chopped (approximately 2 tablespoons) 1/2 ounce (approximately 1/2 cup) dried porcini mushrooms, coarsely chopped 1/2 cup dry sherry 1 small shallot, minced 1 clove garlic, minced 1 cup heavy whipping cream 3 egg yolks 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh thyme salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 bunch watercress, washed and spun dry, for garnish 1. Preheat the Easy-Bake oven for 15 minutes. 2. Place the chives and 1/2 cup of the oil in a blender, and blend until smooth. Set aside. 3. Place the dried porcini in a large bowl; cover with the sherry, and let stir for about 20 minutes. When the mushrooms are soft and have absorbed most of the sherry, drain off any extra liquid (reserving the liquid). 4. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat until hot. Add the shallot and garlic, and saute for about 1 minute. Add the chopped mushroom and toss well. Add the reserved soaking liquid, and reduce until the mixture is almost dry, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat, and let cool until tepid. 5. Place the mushroom mixture in a large mixing bowl; add the cream, egg yolks, and herbs, and mix well. Season with salt and pepper. 6. Ladle the mixture into Easy-Bake oven pans, filling them to 1/8 inch from the top. Bake the custard until just set, about 20 to 30 minutes. Serve drizzled with the chive oil and garnished with fresh watercress. Art Smith's Pecan Ice Box Cookies Makes 2 dozen cookies, baked two at a time 1 cup all-purpose flour Pinch of ground cinnamon Pinch of salt 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 ounces (about 1/2 cup) coarsely chopped pecans, toasted Powdered sugar for dusting 1. Sift together the flour, cinnamon, and salt and set aside. 2. With a hand-held electric mixer at high speed, beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Stir in the flour, then the toasted pecans, to make a stiff dough. 3. On a lightly floured work surface, form the dough into a 9-inch log. Wrap tightly in parchment paper. Refrigerate or freeze in the freezer until ready to use. If using right away, chill in the refrigerator until firm, at least two hours or overnight. 4. Preheat the Easy-Bake Oven for 30 minutes. Butter and flour the baking pans. 5. Unwrap and slice the dough into 3/8-inch thick rounds. Place two rounds in each prepared pan, slide into the oven, and bake until beginning to brown around the edges, about 20 minutes. 6. Cool the pans on a wire rack, and when cooled completely, dust with the powdered sugar. The cookies can be prepared up to 5 days ahead and stored in an airtight container at room temperature. Can Steam Replace The Lightbulb In a Easy Bake Oven?

Answer:
I wouldn't want water vapor near electrical stuff, so no, I don't think steam would be a safe alternative.
