Great game for the whole family!

I couldn't believe that I ordered this game on a Tuesday and it was here with the mail on Wednesday. I would have paid more money for it in a store and I didn't have to use any gas or time to find it! The delivery was UNBELIEVABLE!! Couldn't ask for any more!

Wonderful Game!!!

This is a wonderful family game. It goes fast and everyone is playing at the same time. I love Scrabble but my youngest could never wait for everyone to take a turn and would get bored. This is a perfect fix. It is educational and fun.

Best game ever.

This is the best board game ever made. There needs to be nothing else written about Settlers of Catan. In fact, everything else I'm writing beyond that first sentence is extraneous. If you're still reading this and not purchasing said board game, you are wasting your time.

Great Game for Everyone!

I was amazed I had never heard of this game until now. A friend of ours recommended it while visiting, so we ran out and purchased the game right away. That night we played until 1 AM in the morning. This game is fun!

The instruction book is rather large, but the gist of the game is on the first two pages. My 8-year old daughter picked up the game right away and now wants to play all the time. I really like the fact that the game play is different every time. It is definitely a strategy style game and take a few games under your belt to start developing your own strategies.

Our edition came with extra plastic bags for all the pieces. And everything fits nicely into the box. The game board, at first, fit very tight into the surrounding edges. I found that if I took some of the hex pieces and just rubbed the edges on the table to flatten out the nubs created when punching them out of the cardboard that it fit nicely into the surrounding pieces. You might want to do that too.

If you like playing games, this is a must. This is our new 'family game night' game to play. For two players, the game play lasts 30 minutes to an hour. You can figure that for every extra person play, it will add about 30 minutes or so to the game play.

You can't go wrong buying this game!

My favorite board game

Settlers of Catan is by far my favorite board game. We encountered it a few years back and it continues to remain the favorite. The standard version is for 4 people, with the minimum age around 10. Extensions are available, and you can easily change some rules if there are only 3 of you. A typical game lasts about an hour.

The players compete to acquire resources and construct roads, settlements, cities etc. There is also an amount of chance since you use two dice at each turn to determine who gets what resources. In that respect it is like many other board games. But there are three main factors that make it very interesting and why everyone feels that they can have a chance of winning each game: (1) the board setup is random, so that everytime you play, it IS a new game (there is a Nexus One app available that allows you to get a more balanced board), and (2) you can trade resources, and only the player whose turn it is can trade so that each time you have a possibility of acquiring points, and (3) there are many ways of acquiring points to take you to victory.

Incidently, Amir Khan once said on his blog that he likes to play Settlers of Catan a lot.

Due to the large number of possibilities the first time you play it seems a bit daunting. But it is worth every bit of you time and effort. The game was apparently invented in Germany to teach about capitalism. It has one the 'Spiel des Jahres' (game of the year) award in 1995.

Great group game!

Settlers is a great strategy game geared for a wide audience. The pieces and board were made to be durable and every match is always different due to the different land tiles and different number placings. I'd say the game is a mix between Risk and Monopoly.

love it

the game came quickly and in great shape. It is a lot of fun, but a little hard to figure out at first if you have not ever played the game before.

2nd Purchase

I have now purchased this item twice. My 16 year old never puts it down. It is fun for her because she can be creative with it and because it is magnets, she doesn't have to worry about losing any of the little pieces.

Rating :

Buckyballs are great!

This toy seems simple but turns out to provide hours of entertainment. The creators did well with the size and count of the balls, allowing for many shapes that are elaborate and large enough to work with. All of the building block shapes help reinforce geometry and need to work with the magnetic poles help kids understand how the poles align. The only reason that I rate the durability at 3 stars is because the loss of 1 ball can mess up many shapes and if the buckyballs hit the floor, they are likely to pick up metallic particles that are hard to get back off.

So addictive

I finally got around to purchasing these after seeing the video for them several months ago. I love them! They have a very soothing effect when you're just idly playing with them. I just have to remember to keep them away from my laptop because they're SO strong.

Rating :

Great toy

I got this for my husband so he wouldn't keep playing with the remote all the time. He wasn't sure about it at first, but then really got into playing with it and trying to make neat shapes. It was also a hit at my son's birthday party - everyone wanted to play with it.

Rating :

So simple but so fun!

I bought this product for my fiance as a Valentine's Gift. I know that's weird but he is so into this kind of stuff!
Bucky Balls are such a simple concept but can provide hours of fun. He messed around with it constantly the first day he got it and both of us will pick it up off the coffee table and play with it while watching TV. It's kinda addictive!
Be warned however: The balls are tiny and if you drop one it can be difficult to find them again.

Fun Family Game

My kids had played the game often before at their friend's house and we have found it to be a fun family game and good family time spent together

Rating :

Fun for ages 8 to 88.

Someone brought Apples to Apples to a Hallowe'en party in 2009. The group of people who hardly knew each other, aged 18 to 80, became quickly acquainted and was laughing together for at least 2 hours.

I instantly knew what I wanted to give as Christmas gifts. And I didn't forget to buy one for myself.

Easy to play, and lots of laugh. All you need is a wild imagination.

It used to be fun

I have played Apples to Apples many times, and each time I play it, it gets less and less fun. The game was hilarious the first time I played with friends, and it was rather fun to play several times afterward as well. It is also a good ice-breaker game. However, it seems like at every party or when friends would come over, we would play Apples to Apples. I think that since the game is simplistic, it runs out of fun rather quickly, even with the variations. The fun part of playing is coming up with ironic noun/adjective combinations, but after a while it gets old to be matching Helen Keller with "insert adjective here". Some of the card parings are really funny, but after playing the game for a while, you see similar combinations, and they become less funny/amusing/entertaining.

I think that it's fun when you are picking the nouns for your adjective card, but even then it gets old. The rest of the time, you are hoping that you don't end up with boring nouns and no one picks your card.

I guess if you like games that require no thought and are extremely repetitive, or you are only planning to play this game once every couple of parties/etc, then I guess you'll like Apples to Apples.

A bit of fast fun

Good for a couple fast games, but much better if played creatively with house rules: the original rules get old pretty quickly.

Lots of family fun

This has quickly become a new family favorite and is great for most ages with some ability to spell. Sometimes my 8 year old needs help arranging his cards into words to get the most points. Some of us like Scrabble, and some of us don't, but ALL of us like Quiddler! You don't have to be a lover of words and dictionaries to enjoy this game--though it just might get your kids looking up words in the dictionary to get more points in the next game.

Love this game!

This is the BEST game ever! Its fun, quick, easy to play and for the entire family. We play this game quite frequently! Since its only a large deck of cards, its very versatile and can be played or taken anywhere!!!

Rating :

It's a Solitaire Game for Many People

The only interaction is that during your play/turn you get to chance to choose from the discard pile and only the card that the person before discarded. It's also too easy to make words and go out, two rounds is the norm; and the larger the word made means nothing extra. The high review average for this game says something about the people posting reviews in general.

Rating :

Excellent when there's not enough time for Scrabble!

Great for long rides, short attention spans, or not enough time for a full Scrabble game; and you don't need a lot of space, big boards with pieces that get lost OR BATTERIES! It's easy to learn, challenging even for adults, and a great way to get your kids to expand their spelling skills without making it boring. We have worn out three sets, and given four sets to family and friends who loved it. We will use two games at once when we have a lot of people playing. Since it is hard to find in stock in stores, I am thrilled we found them on Amazon. Try it. If you like Scrabble, you'll love this.

Question : Do babies have ALL the same emotions that grownups have?
I know that it is possible for a baby to feel love , joy , happiness , anger and some of the most common emotions . But Iv'e often wondered if it a baby can be annoyed or irritated with something . If you were to put a baby in the same room with music playing and you played the same song over and over again for 2 whole hours , would the baby eventually get sick and tired of hearing the same thing repeatedly ? What if you were to position your face directly in front of a baby's face and stare at them directly in the eye for 5 or 10 whole minutes ? Would the baby start crying to express his or her emotions ?

Answer:
Babies most assuredly can feel frustration, annoyance, and irritation. They may not, however, find the same situations frustrating, annoying, or irritating as those that adults do. It is unlikely that they same music over and over would be irritating to them. Whether or not the face staredown maneuver would be irritating would probably depend a good bit on the age of the baby and on whether or not the child felt threatened by the staring person. The staredown maneuver, if done by a trusted adult, would probably be more perceived as a "game" (fun).

Question : Why do grownups tell me I can model?
When I feel so ugly. These 'grownups' and parents and friends of parents, but I don't believe them when they say it. Are they trying to make me feel better about myself, or are they telling the truth?Sorry. My insecurity made me ask this question. I'm not posting a pic of me on here because people can be so cruel and I want no part in that. My self esteem doesn't need to be any lower, thankyou.

Answer:
i doubt they'd tell you that just cause..i mean...no one HAS to compliment anyone..they do it cause they actually think so..

Question : "Grownups never understand..., and it is tiring for children to always be explaining things to them."?
"Grownups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiring for children to always be explaining things to them."A question about spirituality and and awakening:What do you think of this quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Answer:
It is adults who, conditioned themselves from an early age, place veils of darkness and ignorance over a child's pure, innocent knowing. Because we have had the Truth obscured, twisted, and hidden from the earliest age we were forced to "go along to get along." i have a very clear memory of this at around the age of four...nothing in the outer seemed to synchronize with what i knew to be true in the deepest part of me. Fear was the tool of choice to scare me into forgetting, and my parents used it well, though they themselves had also had the "knowing" taken from them as children...and so it goes, on and on and on, until all memory is obliterated.Fortunate is the child whose parents respect her/his uniqueness and nurture it. Children are the hope of the world, 'til the world wakes up to what the children have always known...that they are not disconnected from Source and that all are one. How glorious will life be then, with all sentient beings living life as a holy celebration. Children "know," for they are joyfully tuned in to the frequency of Love.i am Sirius
