Questions & Answers
Question : How do I clean my child's soft plush toys?
I have a 2 year old girl and a baby on the way. I want to wash my daughter's soft toys so that they are clean for the baby. Most of them say on label "surface washable only". Do you think I could still put them in the washing machine on gentle cycle? A friend thinks this will be ok if I put them in pillowcases first. Has anyone else done this? Do you have any other suggestions for cleaning them?

Answer:
I have washed them before...just make sure you extract the water out really well (put it on a regular spin cycle rather than the 'gentle' spin cycle)... then I hang them up to dry. Good luck!

Question : If at present a toy company would manufacture plush toys of the chipmunks,do you think it would sell big?
Just asking. I've researched about these toys of the Chipmunks over the net. I've found out that they were a big seller in the 80's. The toys were manufactured by the IDEAL company. At present, since the new movie had come out, do you think it would sell big? By the way, is the toy manufacturing company, Ideal, still alive?

Answer:
No, one movie would not have the same mass marketing affect on children as 8 years of a super popular Saturday morning cartoon would. And no Ideal closed after being sold to CBS who shut itself down probably around 82-83 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideal_Toys\ If anyone was going to pick up the line sometime soon I'd expect it to be Play Along Toys.

Question : What is the brand of those european stuffed animals that have plush toys, keychains etc?
These are sold at airports and fine stores. It is only animals, really cute, I remember seeing them at an International Airport and also in Paris. They're european, probably swedish or Swiss.

Question : Is Febreze safe on plush dog toys?
I made the mistake of putting a slobbered up plush toy in a plastic tote with the other toys and such when I moved and now everything stinks. I tried washing them and hanging them outside but it didn't work. Obviously I would let it dry completely before letting my dog play with it, but it would still be in their mouth. What do you think?

Answer:
I would not Febreeze the dog toy. Try adding baking soda to the wash as it may take the smell out and then hang it out or lay it out to dry in the sun. The sun is a good helper to get rid of smells. Worth a try. I have done it before with some of my beagle toys and its worked on some and others I just had to throw away and replace.

Where in Macon, GA can I find a Dora the Explorer , Boots plush doll or Swiper plush doll? She has Dora and wants the other ones. I can"t seem to find one anywhere. It is all my grandaughter wants for Christmas.

Answer:

Question : Have they made any Bolt plush toys or will I have to wait a bit longer till the movie gets released?
One of my friends thinks the character is cute so I was gonna get the plush for them but I cant find it anywhere. Also, what stores would carry it if its out yet? Thanks.

Answer:
I'm afraid that no stores carry the toys yet. Just wait till the movie comes out.

Question : What are other interactive plush toys besides webkinz, shining stars and tygirlz? Are they good?
I'd prefer if it was one of those things when you actually buy the toy and enter the code. it's for a gift. thanks!

Answer:
Kookeys, except they are hard to find. The site doesn't open until Dec. 1st.

Question : Why do most plush toys say to "surface wash only"?
I understand when there are electrical components or some obvious thing that would break if submerged in water. But, why can't just a plain old stuffed toy be washed in the washing machine? I have to say I have gone against this advice a few times when the toy wasn't super important yet awfully dirty and they turned out just fine. Anyone know why this is recommended?

Answer:
I don't know why either. I throw all my daughter's stuffed animals in the washing machine, and they're always fine. http://www.petcaretips.net/how-clean-stuffed-animal.html --edit-- I just found this site that talks about why to do a surface wash, and why: http://www.stuffemal.com/misc/HowToCleanPlush.shtml
