Sophie the Giraffe, full of discoveries and activities to awaken baby's senses. Sight: The dark and contrasting spots all over Sophie the Giraffe's body provide visual stimulation and make her easily recognizable to baby. She soon becomes a familiar and reassuring objet. Hearing: Her squeaker keeps baby amused, stimulates his hearings, and helps him to understand the link between cause and effect. Taste: Sophie the Giraffe is very flexible and has lots of parts for baby to chew like ears, horns, legs. She is perfect for soothing baby's sore gums when teething and is completely safe. Made of 100% natural rubber and food paint. Touch: Sophie the Giraffe is perfect for baby's small hands. She is very light and her long legs and neck are easy for baby to grip. Glorified Dog Toy
Can't believe I fell for it! A reasonable price would be $5.99 -tops. This has become an "at home" toy only because when out in public people give strange looks. I assume they think I'm letting my baby play with a dog toy. I had to leave a negative review because the hype over this thing is out of control.

SOPHIE THE GIRAFFE, IS WORTH EVERY PENNY
MY SON LOVES THIS TEETHER. HE CHEWS ON THE LEG OR THE HEAD AND SWITCHES IT UP WHEN HE GETS BORED. I WAS SCEPTICAL, SINCE IT'S THE MOST EXPENSIVE TEETHER I HAVE SEEN, BUT WHEN I GAVE IT TO MY BOY HE KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT TO DO AND NOW INSISTS ON HAVING THIS.

We love Sophie!!
I bought Sophie for my daughter after hearing rave reviews about her. We were not disappointed. We love Sophie! She's made of soft rubber, she squeaks, and she's the perfect size for little baby hands to hold on to. We actually lost her at the mall and had to order another one ASAP because my daughter loves her so much. She is absolutely worth every penny.

Love it
My daughter loves Sophie. It's easy for her to hold and chew on...other teethers were too big. I bought 2...one for at home and one to take in the diaper bag.

Buy this toy!
I bought this for my 4 month old son who recently decided that he needs to chew on everything! My husband thought I was nuts spending this much on what looked like a squeak toy, but once he saw our boy enjoying it he didnt care how much it cost. Sophie will keep him occupied for our entire 40 minute commute to and from work/daycare every day. He loves to chew on her face and her feet especially. This toy is the perfect size for his hands and it is easy for him to make her squeak, it is a nice squeaky noise and it makes his face light up! I only wish there was some kind of clip to keep her attached to the baby or the high chair because she gets dropped a lot. Luckily she is easy to clean.

Editorial Review :
The falling water action from this Waterwheel Play Table encourages creative exploration with cause and effect learning. This imaginative water play center encourages hours of outdoor fun. Pour water into the wide funnel, and activate the water wheel which then spills into the inner and outer harbors. Two molded-in sections function as canals, boats, lakes, harbors and more. An elevated design keeps water at toddler level and also keeps ground dirt clear of water and mud from forming on children's feet. It accommodates up to three children to encourage group play. Two built-in drain plugs allow for easy water removal. The four piece accessory set includes: one cup, two sailboats, and one water wheel tower. Features decorative molded-in fish designs on legs. It can holds up to four gallons of water.
Customer Review :
fun water table
My one year old son got this for his 1st birthday. It was a rainy day so we set it up in our kitchen. He played there for over an hour (his attention span is not normally that long) along with his two big sisters (ages 6 and 8). I think they had just as much fun as he did. I think it will last a long time and will be a great thing for them to play with when the weather warms up. My only thing is that I wish it had a cover to keep bugs out when not in use. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Great for backyard or patio fun!
My 2yr old loves this thing and so do we. Its great for the backyard or even a small covered patio. Its especially nice when its warm out because she gets to play as well as cool off - plus I dont have to worry about her drowning if I turn my back! Definitely a Good Buy for outdoor fun!

Good Value
I love Step 2 products. They are sturdy and are a great value in my opinion. This table was a steal for twenty-eight bucks and I highly recommend it to others. It can be used inside (with toys, not water) and outside (with water) for optimal fun! Great way to get a water toy that the dogs can't play in too!

Best money EVER spent
We got this table when my daughter was not even walking yet and she pulled herself up on it. She is going to be 3 this May and still LOVES this table. Besides being fantastic to fill up on the front porch in the summer time and let her have at it, I also use it in the winter - I put it in the kitchen and fill it with either rice or sudsy water. Sure she gets some on the floor, but it sweeps/vacuums up easily, and you just put a bucket under the drain plugs to empty it. Awesome for a snowed-in day! I would completely recommend this for anyone!

WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE PRICE AND THE SERVICE. My grandson age seven and two had a great time and played for hours with this watertable. When the weather gets better I'M SURE THEY WILL SPEND MANY HOURS PLAYING WITH THIS NEW TOY.

For small and big kids
My husband and my children love Legos. This is a really good deal when you consider the free shipping. Will definitely buy again.
Rating :
Good Time pass for kids
It takes some time for kids with less than 4 year to start on with this... Once got used to experimenting with this... they will love this and its a lot of time pass with education also. Will definitely recommend these products as buying other toys like cars or dolls are just time pass for few minutes... but these kind of toys will give lot of thinking power and will engage kids for long time... ------

Lego Building set
This set was great. My kids were getting the sets that built specific vehicles and we wanted them to have more pieces to help them build anything in their imagination. This was a perfect starter set.
Rating :
Not as impressive as it sounds
Nice pieces overall. Variety well chosen. Sounds like there would be more to it the box isn't even full. Very nice durable box with see through lid.
Rating :
405 sounds like a lot, but isn't
Legos are great, don't get me wrong... but it's a little disappointing when you are expecting 405 pieces to be a lot of legos (it's not). You will need to buy two or three of these to really go to town building. A little underwhelming.

Calms my 3 month old daughter down and makes her smile
Her grandmother bought this toy for her at 2 months old. She LOVES it! When ever she starts to fuss and we can't calm her down, we turn this on and she completely stops and looks at it and starts smiling. She no longer has colic. She would cry for a couple of hours at night and we would try EVERYTHING. Now we just turn this on and she stops. I would recommend this to everyone.

Happy grandmother
This is an excellent toy. The flashing lights are fun, but the classical music that it plays is wonderful to hear. My 3 year old granddaughter never tires of it and sometimes she uses it to drown out the sound of her baby sister's crying! At 8 months, her baby sister seems to be enjoying the lights and the music, too. It seems to be very well made, which is important.
Rating :
just okay
I bought this for my 10m. old son. He would carry it around and chew on it for a few minutes but that is about it. It really didn't hold his interest. Sometimes the button for the music gets stuck too. It is cute, maybe better for a younger baby.
Rating :
Boy and Girl Twins, Mommy, Daddy and Teenage Older Brother All Appreciate This Toy
We call this cute music player the baby pod, and we all find the music to be quite pleasant even after months of hearing the same 6-8 songs over and over and over again. Seriously, so many baby toys can get annoying, but this one has done a great job of avoiding that overbearing quality that is so common. It would be nice to have other options like continual loop play or extended melodies, but the toy itself serves it's purpose. The flashing lights are an added bonus, and my babies stick the handle in their mouths (like everything else) for teething. This is a great toy to stop the fussies on a car trip or just for fun anytime.

This is soooo cool!
OMG! This is soooo cool! I ordered it for a gift because it looked like a good toy for an infant and because of the outstanding reviews. Well, let me tell you, I'm glad the shower is tomorrow because I can't stop playing with it! My inner child likes the pretty colors, cute catepillar face on the handle, and the 7 great classical melodies -- even The William Tell Overture (theme from the Long Ranger--High Ho Silver! And Away!!!) OMG--I am getting much too excited over this toy!
It plays each tune for a little while, too. The sound is very exciting, uplifting, peppy. Oh, and pretty colored lights flash while it is playing, too! I am sure any child would love it. The music is not annoying, either.
It comes ready to play. When the batteries wear out, it takes 2 AA/LR6 batteries. The Baby Einstein toys are Disney. The package says this toy "encourages music discovery, hand-eye coordination, together time fun, and sound discovery". With classics by Mozart, Vivaldi, Rossini, and Chopin, it is a pretty cool baby-ipod (well, sorta).
Where were these neat toys when I was a kid!!!
I'm gonna push it just one more time . . .

Max and Ruby Dolls
These stuffed animals are really cute and of good quality. My son loves them. He always watches Max and Ruby on Nick and we also have several DVDs of them.

Max and Ruby Plush
The Max and Ruby plush are from TY. My 3 1/2 year old son loves them. They are typical of other TY Beanie Babies in size and feel. I would say that for the price in comparison to other Bean Bag plush these would compare in price and overall build.

Max & Ruby Rock
My 4 year old grand daughter watches Max & Ruby on TV just about everyday. I bought this pair for her so she could play with them while watching the show. She has a lot of fun pretending they are alive. No rough play, so they should last. This was a good deal with the free shipping.
Rating :
Adorable and Inseperable
My toddler loves, loves, loves Max & Ruby. For X-mas I wanted to get her something from her favorite show, but found it hard to come by! When I saw this set, though, I knew she had to have it! 6 months later, she still sleeps with them and gets them together to watch their show with her! I also made her a paper frog (Max's Froggy Friend) to put in his little overall pocket, and she got a real kick out of that! Adorable and durable, hold up better than other beanies in my opinion and have also gone through the washer a few times each with no problems!

Questions & Answers
Question : Do preschool teachers generally Love the children in their class?
I think it is important a child receives love throughout the day. A big reason I am worried about preschool is that his teacher won't love him, children need love and nurturing to grow. I have a week to decide if he goes to preschool, I still haven't met his teacher who will be in next week. What do I do? What do you think about preschool and love?
Answer:
I have worked in several different preschools. The best thing for you to do is to go to the preschool you are interested in and talk to the director and teachers and see what their policies are regarding the care the children receive and discipline etc... Sit in on a class and observe the children see how they are treated and reactions of the children to the teacher and teachers aides also - aides are also left alone with children for different reasons so their behavior is also important. Look for lots of positives and hugs from teachers, do they seem frustrated or happy? Children happy to be there? Look for children to adult ratio? is it enough or not enough? Daycares are very very hectic and busy. Yes I loved my kids but also getting through the day and having so many kids can seem overwhelming sometimes. So again see the teachers reactions and if they seem overworked or overwhelmed. Most teachers do go into this field for the love of children and you can tell if a teacher really cares for the children. Parent to teacher contact is vital and expect daily reports and feedback. Please realize that your child may need lots of time to get used to preschool and expect he/she to not be very happy at first. Crying is very normal and after the first few days please DO NOT stick/hang around thinking it will make it easier for the child because it does not!!! Good luck and go with your first instinct! If things don't seem right speak up! If you child is happy and happy to go to preschool then thats great!

Question : What is the difference between a private preschool and a public preschool?
I ask because I have never heard of a free preschool and I just learned that my daughter's preschool is considered a private preschool. It has no religious affiliation so I know that isn't the difference.Thanks.So looking around the internet I learned that a private preschool is a prepartory preschool. I thought all preschools where intended as such?O.K. so is a public preschool the same as a headstart program?
Answer:
MONEY $$ ANYTHING PRIVATE WHETHER RELIGION AFFILIATED OR NOT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR.. BUT IT ALSO MEANS SMALLER CLASS SIZES AND ATTENTIVE TEACHERS

Question : How does teaching preschool play a role in writing?
For my project, I need to explain how teaching preschool/ early childhood education plays a role in writing. I have researched it, but I am not sure how it does. Any suggestions?
Answer:
I've been teaching for 25+ years and I am not sure. I've taught prekindergarten for 10 of those years and unless I am here answering questions, or on a pre-K yahoo group, it has not played a role in my writing.I could make sense of the question if it asked how being enrolled in preschool played a role in a child learning to write, but not as it stands now.

Question : What age does preschool start in australia?
My daughter turned 3 in september. What age will she be able to start preschool? And how do i go about enrolling her?
Answer:
Proper preschool usually starts at the age of 4 but there is "3 year old kinder", just means they spend less time there and can have a sleep etc.
|
Question : How important do you think preschool was in your child's development?
For my son, I believe it was a critical component of his intellectual development. He went to preschool, prekindergarten, then kindergarten. I know a lot of parents that are choosing less and less to have their kids in preschool. I just can't imagine not having gone to preschool! Mostly it is due to financial reasons that they are not getting sent to preschool, I totally understand that. I am just wondering how everyone here on YA feels about preschool looking back.
Answer:
I know some children that are development fine and never went to preschool. I know some children that when to preschool and they are development behindHow important depends on the parentsSome parents have there children in play groups. Take them to library programs for free. They have social time with other children, and there parents give them educationalSome are due to money Other are due to other reason

Question : What to include on a preschool report card?
I'm a teacher in a Montessori preschool/kindergarten class. Conferences are coming up this month. Unfortunately, each teacher in the school is responsible for making up her own report cards. I'm not too thrilled with how mine looks, and I've picked out what I could from other teachers' report cards to improve it. Can anyone tell me where I can find report cards that are already made, either online or from a catalog or teacher store? I would like it to look professional.
Answer:
The link provided looks good, although it's primarily fine motor. Since you also have kindergarten you'd want to think of academic goals too.I found this link with info about assessing in Montessori schools http://www.montessori-namta.org/NAMTA/administrators/assess.htmlI found this link, it opens into a word document maybe you could save it and then try to modify it to meet your needs: http://www.murray.k12.ga.us/curriculum/K_reportcard.htmI found this one to, it's for a certain school district. Because your Montessori and because it's a mixed age group it might be too much for your kiddos but for an idea I guess: http://www.wcsd.k12.ca.us/reportcards/K_Report_0506.pdfThis one looked decent, click on the English Kindergarten one, it will open as a Word document:http://www.sd68.bc.ca/Education/reportcards/reportcards.htmHope that helps, there are lots more links if you go to google and type in "report card template" or "primary report card template"Good luck!

Question : How much do preschool teachers make in Mexico?
I am a preschool teacher in the US, and I am thinking about traveling to Mexico , for a new expirience. Can I expect the same amount of money?
Answer:
luis v is correct in his posting.i made the wage of $2.50 per hour at a private school back in 1996 in morelia. and i did not need the paperwork to work there as it was a private school and there are some laws they can play with to get you to work right away. i was paid by the schools "exchange fund"...whatever that means.....actually, that means that if i took spanish classes ( i did tke one) there would be an exchange for my teaching....after the one class was over, i then just got paid regularly. it was a private school that also had spanish classes and high school classes.private schools will pay more. certain cities will pay more than others too. guanajuato, aguas calientes, tabasco, parts of veracruz, monterey, cabo san lucas.....have money in them....even parts of mexico city and guadalajara have money there i hear cuernavaca is very very nice to live in . one of the few places i did not go to yet....there are some towns where it is not so awesome to live in. aguascalientes is sorta not all that exciting....the city in tabasco state (villahermosa) is incredibly hot and sanitized...and veracruz state has places where it is super hot too. that state is not my favorite. some cities in guanajuato are way cool, others are just business centers.i taught in morelia, michoacan, mexicoback then, the minimum wage was more or less $2.18 per DAY...i made that per HOUR. i only had to pay 50 dollars per month for a room with a shared living area tho.now, well, perhaps whatever hte per day minimum is, you can just think of your wage as that per HOUR.good luck.

Question : How do I find a preschool where the parent can stay?
I've heard about preschool programs for young children where the parents are instructed to stay the entire time and when the kids are a bit older (3 or so), they gradually leave so finally the kids are by themselves. Does anyone know where I can find a program like this? I live in the Northern VA area.My son is 2 and I will let go when the time is right. I'm asking for a place where the change is gradual. I"m not taking my son and dropping him off to be traumatized.
Answer:
I have never heard of one where the parents are instructed (like required) to stay. However both daycare/preschools I have sent my son to, had an open door policy. Meaning I could stay as long as I like, drop in when I want, and even come to lunch or recess with him if I chose. A childcare arrangement should be comfortable enough to have the parents observing at all times. As you are interviewing school feel free to ask them if they have an open door policy. If they do not, or seem shady about when you come by, thats a big red flag. If they invited you to join when ever you feel like it, you can be sure they have nothing to hide. If they have an open door policy, you should be able to stay with your child for as long as you think the child and you need to make the adjustment. So just pick up the phone book and start calling and make sure its a prominent question.

Question : What are the costs of preschool in your area?
I'm not talking about daycare, but preschool. I want my daughter to go to preschool this fall, before she starts kindergarten next year. I really think it will help her out and get her ready for kindergarten. Preschool is only a couple of hours a day, usually 2 or 3 days out of the week. Well, my husband is starting to freak out that it's just going to cost too much for her to go. I think he's being ridiculous, it's not like we're paying for college at age four!
Answer:
Preschool in our area which is called Headstart is free. The children go to school half a day, five days a week.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_Starthttp://www.nhsa.org/Call in your area to see if there is one near you.
