Editorial Review :
Sophie the Giraffe, full of discoveries and activities to awaken baby's senses. Sight: The dark and contrasting spots all over Sophie the Giraffe's body provide visual stimulation and make her easily recognizable to baby. She soon becomes a familiar and reassuring objet. Hearing: Her squeaker keeps baby amused, stimulates his hearings, and helps him to understand the link between cause and effect. Taste: Sophie the Giraffe is very flexible and has lots of parts for baby to chew like ears, horns, legs. She is perfect for soothing baby's sore gums when teething and is completely safe. Made of 100% natural rubber and food paint. Touch: Sophie the Giraffe is perfect for baby's small hands. She is very light and her long legs and neck are easy for baby to grip. She is very soft to touch, just like baby's mummy, stimulating soothing physiological and emotional responses. Smell: The singular scent of natural rubber from Have tree makes Sophie the Giraffe very special and easy for your child to identify amid all his other toys. Phthalates and BPA free.

Sophie Teether
It's a big price tag for a teether. My husband still teases me that I could have gotten 10 toys just like it for the same price at petsmart. But, the materials are all safe and natural and something about the design makes it irresistible for babies to chew on. It also squeaks, so if you have a dog that likes squeaker toys, skip this baby toy unless you want the dog to steal it. Teething isn't forever, your child may think this toy is the coolest thing since nipples on bottles, but by the age of two at the absolute latest, more likely before the age of one, your kid is going to ditch this toy. Ask yourself if you want to pay more than $10 for a toy that is meant to be chewed on and isn't going to hold any interest for your child a year from now.

Great Teether
My little girl is 5 months old and she LOVES this teether! It's not just trendy it's fantastic. She chews on its ears, legs and can easily grasp it with her hands or fall asleep with it in her arms. Great product!

A must for all babies!!!
We bought this after seeing it and reading all of the wonderful reviews. Our daughter was about 3 months old when we introduced her to Sophie. Right away you could tell she was interested in this cute little multifunctional and purposeful toy. Her eyes quickly widened and she was constantly just looking at her. Within a week or so, she started to reach for her and now she is holding her constantly and chews on her several times throughout the day. Sophie comes with us everywhere!!! Our daughter is teething already and has been for several weeks now...so this has proven to be the perfect toy by far! Also, I would recommend getting a pacifier holder, (one with snap may be best) to put around Sophie's neck and to attach to your baby's bib, car seat, whatever you choose. Sophie is smaller, and with your baby trying to figure her out, it may end up on the floor, or worse, lost for good. ;(
Again, it's a must...get one for your baby, and she/he will love on her for months to come!

An absolute godsend!
Sophie the Giraffe was a big hit with our son. We easily had a half dozen different types of teething toys in our house that our son ignored when he first started teething. We even bought theVulli Chan Pie Gnon Cool It Soother Teether, Green, but that was the one he liked the least.
When squeezed, Sophie squeaks. It isn't a loud jarring sound like a pet toy. It's just loud enough to gain the interest of a little one.
As for the food-grade paint, I cannot rave enough about that. It is such a relief to find a teether made with the safety of babies in mind.

great for teething babies
My son loves this and he can easily grip it himself. Which is great as he's becoming his own little person and wants to hold things himself. He can chew on the head, legs and feet. I never leave home without it as it too keeps him occupied in the dreaded carseat.

Great buy, Awesome deal!
I bought this for my daughter's birthday when it was only $3.00 plus free shipping with Prime and at that price I can give it nothing less than 5 stars! It's a Barbie and leaps and bounds better in quality than the cheap dollar store knock off's. Another fine addition to my daughter obsessive Barbie collection. :P

Legs are no longer rubber
I just bought this Barbie from Walmart for much cheaper. The only reason I'm not completely upset over this is because of the very small price I paid for it. But Barbie no longer has the sturdy rubber legs like she normally had. Her legs are plastic. A plastic that is a little thicker than those cheap dollar store dolls but still plastic.
Im disappointed in Barbie for the fact that this is the second Barbie I have bought in the past week and found it to have plastic legs. I guess they are cutting back on costs.

Editorial Review :
The falling water action from this Waterwheel Play Table encourages creative exploration with cause and effect learning. This imaginative water play center encourages hours of outdoor fun. Pour water into the wide funnel, and activate the water wheel which then spills into the inner and outer harbors. Two molded-in sections function as canals, boats, lakes, harbors and more. An elevated design keeps water at toddler level and also keeps ground dirt clear of water and mud from forming on children's feet. It accommodates up to three children to encourage group play. Two built-in drain plugs allow for easy water removal. The four piece accessory set includes: one cup, two sailboats, and one water wheel tower. Features decorative molded-in fish designs on legs. It can holds up to four gallons of water.

Best money EVER spent
We got this table when my daughter was not even walking yet and she pulled herself up on it. She is going to be 3 this May and still LOVES this table. Besides being fantastic to fill up on the front porch in the summer time and let her have at it, I also use it in the winter - I put it in the kitchen and fill it with either rice or sudsy water. Sure she gets some on the floor, but it sweeps/vacuums up easily, and you just put a bucket under the drain plugs to empty it. Awesome for a snowed-in day! I would completely recommend this for anyone!

Love This Water Table!
I looked long and hard for a great water table and this one meets all our needs and then some. We've used it outside (all Summer long and even took it to a Fourth of July celebration where it was a huge hit) and even use it inside in the winter. We've filled it with water, goo, cotton balls, etc. Our toddler son adores this and so do all his little friends.

fun water table
My one year old son got this for his 1st birthday. It was a rainy day so we set it up in our kitchen. He played there for over an hour (his attention span is not normally that long) along with his two big sisters (ages 6 and 8). I think they had just as much fun as he did. I think it will last a long time and will be a great thing for them to play with when the weather warms up. My only thing is that I wish it had a cover to keep bugs out when not in use. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Good Value
I love Step 2 products. They are sturdy and are a great value in my opinion. This table was a steal for twenty-eight bucks and I highly recommend it to others. It can be used inside (with toys, not water) and outside (with water) for optimal fun! Great way to get a water toy that the dogs can't play in too!

Customer Review :
good sound, not to loud
Most baby toys are too loud and sound terrible, with that tinny/bad speaker sound. The baby Einstein sound is just right. The volume is not to loud and the quality is excellent compared to most other kids toys. The tunes are great and do not get annoying even after listening to them over and over. It is easy for an infant to hold and the lights grab their attention and hold it. I would definitely buy this again.

Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes
My 1 year old granddaughter loves this little chewable, holdable music ' box'. She sat in the car on a day drive watching the lights flash and listening to the tunes. Very nice sound for a little toy. Cleans easily too. I'd recommend it!
Rating :
Good Quality but not much depth
We received this as a gift and while the toy is well made and functions properly, it has very limited functionality. One button, some flashing lights, and 7 songs. While the flashing lights and sounds certainly attract our baby he quickly grows tired of the toy and moves on to more interactive toys ... like the dog or just about anything else in reach soon after. In our case, we are much happier with a fuller function child musical keyboard which allows for greater variation in play.

Great toy, but sticker comes off
My 8 month old LOVES this toy, but the other day I caught her chewing on the button (the part with the big circle sticker of the 4 colors). She got her first tooth and was able to start scratching off the sticker. I had to pull off the rest of the sticker to keep her from eating it. The toy isn't as pretty now, but works just as well. The lights are, as another reviewer stated, very bright, but it seems fine if the room is well lit. I wouldn't give it to my baby in a dark room or in the car at night.

Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes
We purchased this for our 4 month old grandson. He loves it. Loves the colored lights. Tries to grab for it. The tunes are nice, & easy to the ears. It's not loud and obnoxious. Glad we got it. Happy with our purchase.

For small and big kids
My husband and my children love Legos. This is a really good deal when you consider the free shipping. Will definitely buy again.
Rating :
Lego Building set
This set was great. My kids were getting the sets that built specific vehicles and we wanted them to have more pieces to help them build anything in their imagination. This was a perfect starter set.
Rating :
works well for a first set
The box is only about 1/4 filled with legos. Really for the creative builder, you would need about three of these sets to build much of anything. My son received these on Christmas, and we haven't played with it very much. It just seems like the legos don't stay together very well, and every time we build something decent, it falls apart so easily, it is hardly worth the effort. Possibly legos have always been this way. I was more interested in dolls as a girl, so this is really my first lego experience. For now they are put up in his closet. Im hoping since he is a boy, he will "get it" more than I seem to, and one day be able to build wonders with his legos. Meanwhile he seems to favor his duplo blocks, lincoln logs, and regular wooden blocks.
Rating :
Not for Small Children
I was very disappointed. The pieces are tiny and not appropriate for young children. This looks like a building set for adult or teenagers.
Rating :
405 sounds like a lot, but isn't
Legos are great, don't get me wrong... but it's a little disappointing when you are expecting 405 pieces to be a lot of legos (it's not). You will need to buy two or three of these to really go to town building. A little underwhelming.

Questions & Answers
Question : How easy is the transition from Waldorf preschool to public elementary school?
I am planning on sending my child to a Waldorf preschool. I am not sure if I want to commit all through elementary school, since the tuition is more expensive than the very good public school (that is even closer to home). Has anyone done this and what were your experiences. Would you advise such preschool knowing that I might send to public elemntary school later on? Thanks.
Answer:
My son went to a preschool that followed Waldorf method and now is a very well adjusted first grader in public schools. I had the same concern and my son has exceled. His kindergarten teacher commented that she could tell that he had been in preschool and asked where because he was adapting so well to school. That being said, he did not know all of his letters and did not know how to hold a pencil correctly, etc. His kindergarten teacher acknowledged that even though most children have problems, our school system expects them to know certain things upon entering school (that are not necessarily age/developmentally appropriate). By Christmas he was caught up academically and was reading above grade level by the end of kindergarten. Hope that answer helped. Like the other post, please ignore the first comment.

Question : What is the difference between a private preschool and a public preschool?
I ask because I have never heard of a free preschool and I just learned that my daughter's preschool is considered a private preschool. It has no religious affiliation so I know that isn't the difference.Thanks.So looking around the internet I learned that a private preschool is a prepartory preschool. I thought all preschools where intended as such?O.K. so is a public preschool the same as a headstart program?
Answer:
MONEY $$ ANYTHING PRIVATE WHETHER RELIGION AFFILIATED OR NOT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR.. BUT IT ALSO MEANS SMALLER CLASS SIZES AND ATTENTIVE TEACHERS

Question : What are the costs of preschool in your area?
I'm not talking about daycare, but preschool. I want my daughter to go to preschool this fall, before she starts kindergarten next year. I really think it will help her out and get her ready for kindergarten. Preschool is only a couple of hours a day, usually 2 or 3 days out of the week. Well, my husband is starting to freak out that it's just going to cost too much for her to go. I think he's being ridiculous, it's not like we're paying for college at age four!
Answer:
Preschool in our area which is called Headstart is free. The children go to school half a day, five days a week.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_Starthttp://www.nhsa.org/Call in your area to see if there is one near you.

Question : How does teaching preschool play a role in writing?
For my project, I need to explain how teaching preschool/ early childhood education plays a role in writing. I have researched it, but I am not sure how it does. Any suggestions?
Answer:
I've been teaching for 25+ years and I am not sure. I've taught prekindergarten for 10 of those years and unless I am here answering questions, or on a pre-K yahoo group, it has not played a role in my writing.I could make sense of the question if it asked how being enrolled in preschool played a role in a child learning to write, but not as it stands now.

Question : How important is preschool for my sonn to be 5 yr old daughter ?
How important is preschool for a child ?? She already knows alot for her age but im debating big time on rather we should put her in preschool or not !! The main thing is the cost which is around 100 dollars a month ! Thanks for the helpI mean soonthe only school where I live is called st marks and its now a charter school! they do not offer pre-kher b-day is in december you have to be 5 by the 30 of aug
Answer:
Preschool has advantages and disadvantages. Whether or not it is right for your daughter is largely dependent upon her personal strengths and weaknesses, as well as the school you might send her to.Some of the advantages of preschool are a structured environment, varied activities (including scholastics, art, and science as well as play), the opportunity to practice social skills (especially turn-taking), and the opportunity to develop confidence being independent. A good preschool will encourage all areas of growth and include them all in their programs. Some of the disadvantages of preschool are the cost, loss of parent-child interaction time, and the opportunity to develop negative social skills. A child who goes to preschool/day care is more likely to initiate aggression in grade school than one who stays in a family setting. While a case can be made for a child standing up for him/herself, no parent wants their child to be a bully.Go with your gut on this one, as you know your daughter best and can be trusted to make the best decision for her.

Question : Do you think preschool teachers generally love the children entrusted to them in their class?
I think it is important a child receives love throughout the day. A big reason I am worried about preschool is that his teacher won't love him, children need love and nurturing to grow. I have a week to decide if he goes to preschool, I still haven't met his teacher who will be in next week. What do I do? What do you think about preschool and love?
Answer:
I am a preschool teacher and I definitely learn to love every child that comes into my class! All teachers are not like that though.Call the teacher as soon as possible to see if she's willing to meet with you one-on-one. A good prek teacher will make time to spend with a parent- parental involvement should be HUGE in prek. Talk with her about the program- most of the day should be play, and there should be NO worksheets! Ask her about her behavior management plan- there shouldn't be time out in preschool (it works at home, but its humiliating in a public setting), and gentle guidance is the preferred method.Go with your gut once you meet her. You are right, they do need to be around adults who love them and care about them. Many teachers do provide this, but there are those who see it as "just a job" and don't believe providing that warmth and love is part of their job.Prek is (usually) good for kids though- especially the access to engaging materials and the socialization skills they will gain.If you do enroll him, volunteer in his classroom so you can observe. If the teacher discourages parent volunteerism, that's not a good sign. Also do a google search for "10 signs of a high quality preschool program"

Question : What to include on a preschool report card?
I'm a teacher in a Montessori preschool/kindergarten class. Conferences are coming up this month. Unfortunately, each teacher in the school is responsible for making up her own report cards. I'm not too thrilled with how mine looks, and I've picked out what I could from other teachers' report cards to improve it. Can anyone tell me where I can find report cards that are already made, either online or from a catalog or teacher store? I would like it to look professional.
Answer:
The link provided looks good, although it's primarily fine motor. Since you also have kindergarten you'd want to think of academic goals too.I found this link with info about assessing in Montessori schools http://www.montessori-namta.org/NAMTA/administrators/assess.htmlI found this link, it opens into a word document maybe you could save it and then try to modify it to meet your needs: http://www.murray.k12.ga.us/curriculum/K_reportcard.htmI found this one to, it's for a certain school district. Because your Montessori and because it's a mixed age group it might be too much for your kiddos but for an idea I guess: http://www.wcsd.k12.ca.us/reportcards/K_Report_0506.pdfThis one looked decent, click on the English Kindergarten one, it will open as a Word document:http://www.sd68.bc.ca/Education/reportcards/reportcards.htmHope that helps, there are lots more links if you go to google and type in "report card template" or "primary report card template"Good luck!

Question : How important do you think preschool was in your child's development?
For my son, I believe it was a critical component of his intellectual development. He went to preschool, prekindergarten, then kindergarten. I know a lot of parents that are choosing less and less to have their kids in preschool. I just can't imagine not having gone to preschool! Mostly it is due to financial reasons that they are not getting sent to preschool, I totally understand that. I am just wondering how everyone here on YA feels about preschool looking back.
Answer:
I know some children that are development fine and never went to preschool. I know some children that when to preschool and they are development behindHow important depends on the parentsSome parents have there children in play groups. Take them to library programs for free. They have social time with other children, and there parents give them educationalSome are due to money Other are due to other reason
